About the job
We describe ourselves as 'the polytechnical consultancy' meaning we deploy a wide range of design and building knowledge and skill. Our Clients do not want to go from office to office to get their job done. Our ideal candidate should be able to deal with Clients, planning and building control officers and builders, most of whom are nice people, and be able to fill in the forms as well as draw. Our work is usually for individual clients, often in a World Heritage Site or listed buildings. At the moment we have a Children's Home for a Council, a Garden Centre for a repeat Client, a tricky extension for a listed building in the World Heritage Site, flats (and new houses in the garden) in the listed home of the world's original pop-star. We also do our own Party Wall work, and even House Surveys. So we need versatility!
About the company
We describe ourselves as "The Polytechnical Consultancy", a firm of chartered architects and chartered building surveyors which aims to provide a comprehensive "client orientated" service to Clients who need new buildings or to improve or alter existing ones.
We have undertaken a wide range of projects since 1991, mainly in London and the South-east, but also in the Western Isles. These range from domestic extensions to quality control on London's Mansion House.
Current work includes a Garden Centre in Kent (we have done several for a repeat Client); a listed building conversion of a house to flats and new houses in the grounds; new houses in Blackheath and Bexley; an extension in a UNESCO World Heritage site; a Social Services Children's Home, and we even manage an unadopted road in a Kent industrial estate.
